The time to educate businesses and consumers about the need for an environmentally safe alternative to plastics is long overdue. A study was released confirming that microplastics, small plastic particles in the environment, are contaminating water sources throughout the world.  The highest levels of contamination, found by an investigation conducted by Orb Media, are in the United States with levels as high as 94%. This is affecting wildlife and drinking water everywhere. Currently close to 300m tonnes of plastic is produced every year. Hemp is known to contain around 65-70% cellulose, an organic compound composed of glucose units that can be used for plant based products. “Hemp cellulose can be extracted and used to make cellophane, rayon, celluloid and a range of related plastics” as reported by Seshata of Sensi Seeds. “We should all strive to minimize, reuse, and eliminate plastics.” - Hill
